Our tour guide's name was Albert. Although we signed up for a small group tour, it ended up just being my 2 friends and I along with our driver and Albert in an air conditioned van for the day. We had the best time ever! Albert was very helpful, full of stories and an all round great guide. He suggested we take the cable cars up and the toboggan down, which we did, and it was the best way to experience the wall. We got there early in the morning which I highly recommend and so there were not many people in the queue for the cable cars or on the wall - and it was much cooler than later in the day too! Lunch was yum! I'm vegetarian but there was an ample selection for me and I would go back to that local restaurant again in a heartbeat! I would have personally liked to hike a bit more but it was crazy hot mid-June so will save that for another trip!
Lucy our guide was fantastic. She met us at the hotel, escorted my friend and I round all day, and was very helpful and informative. We had a great day out, lunch was pretty good too. The driver was also excellent. At our request, they stopped near the Olympic Park so we could see the birds nest stadium. The driver even climbed on a wall to take photos for me.
This was one of the highlights of our trip! Cindy was absolutely amazing and showed us a fantastic day. I can not recommend this tour enough. Thanks for making our trip memorable, Cindy!
This was truly a highlight of the trip and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to experience both these amazing venues. Our driver's car was very clean and comfortable and I always felt completely safe in the somewhat crazy Beijing traffic. Roy was our wonderful, thoughtful and amazingly considerate guide. It was just the two of us on the tour, my sister and I, and he was really helpful in letting us take it all in at our own pace, given that my asthma was playing up and I was having trouble with some of the climbing at the wall. He wove some wonderful historical details around the trip which made things really come alive- but what was also fascinating were his stories of what it is like to live as a young man trying to make his way in China for himself and his wife and new daughter. He took care with lunch to order a selection of dishes reflecting tastes in different regions- all were absolutely delicious and there wasn't another westerner in sight! And he didn't laugh when this 62-year-old expressed a desire to toboggan down the wall at Mutianyu- which actually ranks now as another highlight of the trip. I could not recommend this experience more highly.
This was a highlight of our trip. Tina our guide was not only well informed, she was laid back and relaxed. Both the Great Wall and the Summer Palace are massive and one could spend a day at each, yet unlike other tour guides, Tina put no time constraints on us, and suggested we move at our own pace. Plus the restaurant she chose for lunch was authentic and delicious. There were two reasons we chose this tour over the others - 1: Mutianyu the access point to the wall was not crowded and the views were fantastic. And 2: it was a small group. Most of the reviews said they were the only people on the tour, and that was true for us as well. We were the only 2 on the tour, so Tina customized it to our needs. 100 satisfied and 5 STARS - Jeff, Tampa Florida USA
Booked a day tour to Great Wall and Summer Palace which ended up being a private tour which was great. Our tour guide Albert and driver were great. very accomodating and Albert spoke English well. Were not overbearing and allowed alot of time for ourselves. Provided great Chinese history
Great tour! The tour was well-organized and Alice, our guide, made it very interesting with her historical insights. The Mutianyu section of the Wall is beautifully restored, and situated in breath-taking scenery. We were there for just about the perfect length of time. The Summer Palace wasn't initially on our list of must see in Beijing but we are very glad that we visited it. It is spectacular and easier to visit than the Forbidden City. Again, we were there just about the perfect length of time. This tour requires a fair amount of walking, but because it's a small group, there is some flexibility.
