This was such a great evening and I highly recommend. The visit to Maurizio Brogioni's vineyard was wonderful and Maurizio is a fabulous host. You will try lots of delicious wines paired with cheese, bread and olive oil. However, I gave it only 4 stars because the first stop at a cafe was a waste of time. Our driver didn't know where he was going, parked on a hillside that made it difficult to get out of the van, made use where headsets but didn't talk, and the cafe had mechanized wine dispensers. The tour guides, there were 2 vans, didn't tell us anything about the wines in the machines. They gave use gift cards valued at $5 Euros and showed us how to use them in the machines to taste wines. Would have much rather spent more time at the vineyard. Plus we ran an hour late. We were supposed to be back in Florence by 8 p.m. (20:00) and didn't return until 9 (21:00).
Our guide Francesco smoothly took us on a magical tour through the Chianti countryside. His driving skills were top class, navigating narrow back roads with ease and great care. Francesco talked about his neighbourhood with passion together with his in depth knowledge. We visited beautiful tiny villages and stopped at a winery to taste and enjoy some excellent Chianti wines before heading to a wonderful restaurant set in a monastery to enjoy a delicious dinner. This tour was amazing, our dreams of visiting the Tuscan countryside came true. Francesco made the tour more special because he bonded with us very well and obviously loved art, history and the land he has grown up in. Thank you Francesco. Jim and Gill Australia.
This was the best tour that we had in the 3 weeks of Europe! Our guide was the best and the Chianti winery we visited was outstanding!
Marco picked us up at the meeting point on time and drove my friend and I up to Tuscany region, He gave us history of the area as he drove. We met Emiliano; the winemaker who proudly showed us around his small vineyard. We tasted 7-8 different wines along with a meat and cheese platter. Then Marco took us to a small store and gave us wine cards with 5 euros each for us to sample wines from self service machines. Then Marco drove us back to the meeting point. I think the tour might have been more fun with more people but we enjoyed the personal attention. Marco even gave us a dinner recommendation for steak Florentine which was tasty. My only complaint was that we did not watch the sunset; which I expected due to the title of the tour.
My wife and I just loved this tour. The guide was very friendly and went out of his way to make the trip the best. It was for up to 8 people but we had 4. Winery was small and wine was fantastic. We also stopped in Greve and did a tasting there.
Is a good tour because the host is a funny man that presented us manny types of wines and cheese and olive oil wich combines different amazing unique tastes and the view from the hills is amazing (specially the sunset if you take the second part of the day tour). you can also taste some chocolate and cocoa cream for desert and order any type of wine or olive oil or cocoa cream made by the host (all the group participants liked number 3 wine so i recommend it most). nice driver too and nice tour of Chianti so i recommend it!
Chiara was our guide and she took fabulous care of us. The sites and photo spots were gorgeous, the winery we visited was everything we were hoping for. The winemaker shared his knowledge with us and was clearly passionate about his work. After, Chiara again delighted us with a trip to Greve for more wine and cheese samples.
We had two guides because one was new to this tour company. Both were pleasant, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable, and went out of their way to accommodate several special requests that our group had. A minor complaint is that when the driver spoke from the front seat while driving it was sometimes difficult to hear her. Also the tour should have started a little earlier because by the time we got to Greve after the wine-tasting it was very dark.
Had a wonderful and relaxing time away from the crowds in Florence? Loved every minute of the drive to the winery where we were told about the area and wines. We are not red wine drinkers but enjoyed the tasting on the veranda watching the sun set
There were 7 family members so we had the van to ourselves. It was a great experience, very relaxing and enjoyable. The stops along the way to the winery were just as interesting as the wine tasting. Wouldn't have changed a thing.
This is not the tour for you if you're looking to try a wide array of wines or tour a true winery; it is a very casual outing with a driver who knows her history of the region with a stop at an adorable small, organic winery run by a family. The trip was packed with incredible views of the region.
This ended up being a private tour, as there were just the two of us. Our guide, Alessio, was very knowledgeable of the area, and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Chianti vineyard/farm. Samuela of Altiero was a wonderful host who showed us around, and served up delicious jams, olive oil, cheeses, and meats to accompany the wine tasting. We were able to purchase the jams, oils, and wines to bring home. The views were incredible, and was definitely the highlight of our trip!
