Informative and interesting. Office is 5 minute walk to entrance. Enjoyed the history. Not to crowded.
Our guide Antonio was knowledgeable, interesting, informative, and friendly. We learned so much! Our granddaughters really enjoyed the tour as did our family.
Amazing experience of Alhambra and Generalife. The guide Tarek was amazing. Without Alhambra the Spain trip wouldn't be complete. Planned and bought the tickets way in advance. Grana vision was amazing. They picked and dropped on the right time from the hotel. Overall the experience was excellent.
Firstly and totally unrelated to Viator, the booking system for the Alhambra tours is a shambles. We first booked our tour several days in advance from a company called "Headout". Following their confirmation we arranged our accommodation only to be informed 12 hours later that our tour had been cancelled. We received our money back but our hotel was non-refundable and so we had to extend our stay by one day. Fortunately Granada is a beautiful city. Viatour is a booking agency and they used a local tour operator called "GranaVision". The pickup from our hotel was fine but when all the tour members were assembled and the personal entry tickets (issued by the Alhambra) were handed out, some people didn't have tickets in their name. This meant that if they were required to prove their ID, they couldn't. Security is allegedly very tight but as it transpired, it is a bit hit and miss and on the one occasion when one of our party was required to prove her ID and she had the wrong ticket, our tour leader managed to persuade security to allow admission. The tour was approximately 3 hours long. Our biggest disappointment which was shared by other members of our team was that our group was a mixture of Spanish and English speakers therefore everything had to be repeated in both languages. This meant one of two things, either the tour took twice as long as it would have if it had been a single language tour or there was a lot more to see which we missed. We will never know unless we are able to compare notes with other people. It may have been an illusion but it seemed to us that preference was given to the Spanish language. On the positive side, our guide was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed our tour but it could have been so much better.
This half day is definite highlight of your visit to Granada. Perched on a hill overlooking the town, Alhambra is a piece of art itself. you explore the military barracks as well as the few palaces that are still standing. These Muslim built palaces are scattered with bits of Christian additions throughout.
We dont know who is incharge for this issue, whether Viator or Granavision. Based on information in this tour package, the tour is including transportation from hotel to Alhambra. Means that our seat for transportation is guaranteed, although we were asked to inform our hotel location to local guide (granavision) few days before the tour. We informed our hotel location a day before because we thought that we already paid this tour including transportation, means our seat are guaranteed avalaible. In fact, granavision said that the bus is full, there is no more seat available. We were shocked, how come there is no more seat, we already paid this tour which is said including transportation. Nothing we could do except took public transportation to visitor center where we met the guide. Luckily, the tour guide was excellent, she explained completely Alhambra. So, if the tranportation is limited for certain amount if people, please dont name the tour including the tranportation. if so, it is such a fraud. Thank you
We enjoyed a fantastic three hours with Tarek, whose passion, genuine communication of his deep knowledge of life through the centuries of Alhambra history and willingness to answer all questions with a thoughtful response made our time fly by. He has a great voice and the sound system worked very well. Despite the crowds around us throughout it was still an intimate and unique experience there.
We arranged our visit to the amazing Alhambra months in advance through Viator, which ended up booking us with Granavision. Our overall experience was mixed; the actual tour of the Alhambra and gardens was wonderful. We were very fortunate to have Victor as our guide. His explanations of the history and architecture were excellent, and he managed to give a clear and interesting tour in both English and Spanish, without shortchanging anyone. He’s also got a terrific sense of humor. The difficult and frustrating part was our experience with Granavision. When I booked the tour, I chose the date that we wanted to visit, and was offered morning or afternoon options. I chose afternoon, and then received a confirmation from Granavision stating in writing that our hotel pickup would either be between 1:15 and 1:45, or 3:15 and 3:45. Already, this was not a good start, as we were hoping to plan other activities in Granada for the day, and needed to know when the tour would start. The confirmation voucher also said that we needed to confirm with Granavision several days before the tour date, or else our reservation could be cancelled. We telephoned them the Tuesday before our Saturday tour, and we were told that our pickup would be at our hotel at 1:50. Just to be sure, we called Granavision again upon arriving in Granada on Friday. This time, they told us that our pickup would be at our hotel at 4:15. We were surprised and frustrated by the time change, but figured we had no other options. At 4:15, while waiting in our hotel lobby, the concierge came to us and said that Granavision had just called them and said that they would not be picking us up at our hotel as planned, and that we should take a taxi (at their expense) to their offices near the Alhambra. (At this point, we were beginning to doubt that we were even going to get in to see the place). So we took a taxi, arrived, and finally things seemed organized, and we went on our wonderful tour with Victor.Still, the entire experience was quite frustrating, especially because we were only in Granada for a short time and had no margin for error. They offered no explanation for the time change. While it worked out in the end, I would never knowingly book through Granavision again.
Consuela was an amazing guide, providing a comprehensive tour of the Alhambra. She was leading a group of both English and French speakers, effortlessly communicating in both languages and keeping us all together. It was a large group of 27 people, but the wireless audio system worked great to be able to hear our guide as we looked around. It was an excellent tour.
Amazing place to visit! Loved the tour and history behind this magnificent place.
We did not get tickets for Alhambra so booked this instead. We were not picked up from the hotel so had to go to another hotel at 9:30 AM only to find out our tour will start at 11 AM! We were misinformed by customer service. Although there were only 11 people in our group, the tour guide failed to make it interesting or exciting with his very dry and casual commentary. Often rushed through not giving us enough time to enjoy the finer detail or take photos! He kept complaining about a large number of tourists coming to Alhambra! and weather instead of focusing on making the best out of the situation. I don't think they realise how much investment and effort people make reach here. We deserve better!! I highly recommend fellow tourist either book direct tickets or get a Granda Card. Avoid at all cost.
A really wonderful tour!! Our guide, Juan Antonio Diaz was very informative, knowledgeable and really nice. I will be honest, we were hesitant to book after reading some negative reviews about viator not this tour in particular and just decided to take the plunge anyway. SO, SO glad we did!! Thank you guys, you provided a great service and we got to see the amazing Alhambra which was one of the highlights of our entire trip to Spain. Advice to travellers - book at least two months ahead of time or you may be disappointed the Alhambra is just spectacular.
Tour guide lacked needed qualifications.
