Stop At: Street Food Man, Ho Chi Minh City 700000 Vietnam
Experience Ho Chi Minh City at night and taste the best street food. Meet your local guides in the evening and join thousands of other motorbikes as you ride through the colorful city streets. Explore notable neighborhoods, including District 3 where the locals live and learn all about Ho Chi Minh City.
Stop to enjoy some Banh Xeo and Banh Khot (South and Central rice pancakes), and learn how they are made from a chef with over 20 years experience. Climb up to the top of old buildings and see the contrasting architecture between the modern and the traditional. You can even visit a local pagoda which was built inside an old apartment by a female monk.
Visit the biggest night flower market and soak up the wonderful bouquets. Take a short walk around the area, and get a special gift from your guide. Go deep into a true maze of local market to have an authentic local experience by grilling banana girdle- cakes.
Next, drive to District 5 and pass a street famous for its oil paintings. Stop at a local restaurant to savor some bún chả (grilled pork with noodles, Hanoi style). Venture into District 10, where the city’s street food scene really thrives. Reward your taste buds with a heavenly dish of coconut ice cream at a shop established in 1975. Watch as the owner prepares some coconut ice cream right before your eyes.
Take a spin around the city for enticing views of the night life, and experience the hustle and bustle of Fashion Street. Squeeze through narrow alleyways that cars can’t access, and journey along the banks of the Saigon River with a welcoming breeze.
End your food and motorbike tour in District 4, where you will enjoy a seafood meal of 3 different dishes and an authentic food challenge (if you are allergic to seafood, it will be replaced by BBQ meat). Try some balut (boiled, fertilized egg) if you dare, and tuck into a nice dessert of flan cake with caramel, coffee and coconut milk. Wash it all down with beer, soft drinks, mineral water or homemade Vietnamese rice wine, which was made in Street Food Man Vinnie’s village.

Our tour guides, Shane and Sue, were warm, intelligent, and very flexible. We did the tour the day we flew in to HCM and even though our flight was very late, Shane and Sue adjusted the timing and stops to make it work, and waited further while we checked in. We can't appreciate that enough. Riding passenger on their motos through the city was a lot of fun. My girlfriend, who is much less a risk taker than me, said she felt very comfortable and safe when driving with Sue. I'd say just the bike trips between food spots was worth it alone. It's one of the best ways to see HCM. The food spots themselves were all great and local spots. I don't think I would have ever had the opportunity or known of many of the spots without Shane and Sue. I liked also getting out of District 1 and the main tourist areas. I still crave the Bun Cha we had on our first stop and when we had beers and seafood on one strip of super local street restaurants, that was one of the highlights of my entire trip across several countries. For those who want to get exposure to sights and places you might not otherwise on your own, this tour was perfect.
I wish I could give this more than five stars. I absolutely loved this tour. First of all, Nana, the guide, was wonderful. She was funny and fun and knew all the places to go to. I loved how there were so many different experiences-eating different kinds of foods in venues like restaurants, stalls, ice cream shops, and getting to make pancakes, as well. We also walked up and around one of the old Vietnam-war era apartment buildings, as well as the flower market. And it was so much fun riding on the bike of the scooter. This was a great introduction to Vietnam street food, and I would recommend it highly.
Great guides, very good value for money, great street food and other interesting sights. Highly recommend
