Acerca de esta actividad
After morning hotel pickup by your guide, your day trip starts with a 1.5-hour speedboat ride along the Saigon River to the Cu Chi Tunnels site.
Nibble on a light breakfast of pastries, fresh fruit and Vietnamese iced coffee on the boat as you watch the riverside landscape change from city sprawl to lush jungle. Listen to commentary from your guide about rural traditions and life along the riverbanks until you reach Cu Chi, where your guide fits you with a top-quality mountain bike and helmet for your 2.5-hour bike ride.
While you pedal at a leisurely pace for 15-19 miles (25-30 km) on back roads and dirt trails, you'll see the villages, plantations and green rubber forests of southern Vietnam. Stop for photo ops and a light snack before returning to the Cu Chi Tunnels. With your guide, explore the tunnels, visiting underground bunkers used for kitchens, meeting rooms, living quarters and medical treatment. See a firing range and displays of weapons and booby traps, and then taste local cassava root, which sustained Viet Cong fighters during the lean years of the Vietnam War (known as the ‘American War’ in Vietnam).
Next, enjoy a Vietnamese lunch at a local restaurant, and then make the 1.5-hour drive back to Ho Chi Minh City by air-conditioned van. Your tour ends with hotel drop-off.

We were picked up nice and promptly and transferred to the boat launch area where we did have to wait a while until other guests arrived. We then boarded the boat for the 1.5 hour cruise up the Saigon River, during which a light breakfast was provided. The trip up the river was enjoyable but the boat itself is quite loud and our boat guide did not talk to us at all during the trip which was a bit disappointing. Once we arrived at the main entrance to the Cu Chi Tunnels we were transferred to our bike guide Tinh from Grasshopper Adventures. The bikes and helmets provided were of excellent quality and were fitted to each of us. Tinh also took the time to ask what our biking experience was and talk through the terrain we would be covering during the ride before setting off. The ride itself although long is very easy and enjoyable - mainly along back and dirt roads. Tinh was excellent, stopping along the way to explain the sights and allow us to take photos. Part-way through the morning we reunited with our support driver at a local cafe for some cold drinks, fresh fruit and a toilet stop. Lunch at a local restaurant at the end of the ride was also very enjoyable. The tunnels themselves were very interesting and it was nice going to a quieter entrance so you didn't feel like part of the swarm! Tinh's knowledge of history was very good and we appreciated how he has taken the time to go and study the points of view from both sides to present as much unbiased fact as possible. On the drive back to Saigon Tinh was also kind enough to write up a list of things to see, do, eat - not only in Saigon but in all the other places we were intending to visit throughout our trip.
