This was a great way to spend a day. Our guide Rui was fantastic!! He was knowledgeable about the area and fun to hang out with. The wine was delicious and it was a great way to see some of the Portugese countryside.
We had a fabulous tour guide which made our day special. Visiting a tile factory tasting wine accompanied with a seafood lunch at Sesimbra by the sea was awesome
I took this tour on May 22nd and was extremely pleased with the entire experience. We started at Hard Rock Cafe where we met with our guide. After getting in the van the first thing he did was ask us to introduce ourselves, tell where we were from and then we were off. Along the way out of the city he pointed out different points of interest and answered questions about everything from the unemployment rate to information about Portugal’s universities. He continued to give us information about what we could expect during our tour. The first stop was the castle of Palmers that is now a hotel. He walked us throughout the area giving us more information about the history of the area and pointed out surrounding areas. Next stop was the beaches along the Atlantic, then on to our first winery, Jose Maria Da Fonseca. A guide from the winery walked us through the history and facilities and then to the tasting room. We tasted two of their wines, the Periquita Reserve and a white which I don’t remember the name of. Then on to lunch at a small fishing village on the Atlantic. The fresh fish was wonderful and the views spectacular. After lunch we has a bit of time to do some shopping and then on to our second winery, a small fairly new facility, but the wine was great. Our guide did the pouring and presentation at this winery. He went into depth about each of the 4 wines that were presented. From there we started back to Lisbon with one stop left before arriving back in the city. The last stop was at the Monument of Cristo Rei across the river from Lisbon. Spectacular views and spiritual place. Then back to Lisbon. The tour is all day but the time went by quickly due to our guide continually sharing information and answering question. Well worth the time and cost. Would do this tour again and and tour with our guide.
It was a wonderful day! There were three of us on the tour. Our guide, Andre, was wonderful. He kept us entertained on the drive and was very knowledgeable about the area and the places we visited.
Grear tour! Our guide was terrific and made the tour so much more entertaining, thanks to his great sense of humor. Wine tasting was enjoyable, introducing us to grapes we have not tasted before
This was a great tour. We all had a great time. Our guide, Maritas was extremely knowledgeable, very informative, and extremely friendly and sociable. A great way to see the sites, learn about and enjoy the wines of Portugal and some great seafood in Sesimbra. Would highly recommend this tour.
Great tour. Juao, Paulo, Salvatore, and Ricardo were great guides. If you are looking for a nice day trip outside of Lisbon this is a great way to spend your day. Just to set expectations, I wouldn't describe this as a wine tour, rather a day trip with stops at two wineries. That said, it's lovely, and you will be back in time for dinner and going out back in Lisbon.
What a great day we spent with Andre Costa and the towns of Arribida and Sesmbra! Andre was an excellent guide with great insights because he grew up in this area. He took us to great vineyards were we could sample and purchase our tastings. My wife and I really enjoy this type of tour because it would take us too much time to navigate ourselves to all the locations. Sit back and let Andre do all the driving! A wonderful experience - we highly recommend it to people who want to see something outside Lisbon!
It's a small group of 6 in this tour including the driver and guide. There are 2 understudies tagging along as well. The wine tasting went really well. But I love watching the roaring wild Atlantic waves crashing into the shore from the restaurant where I had my lunch.
