Después de recogerle en su hotel de Managua, su excursión de un día a Granada comienza mientras se dirige hacia el sudeste con su guía a la orilla del lago de Nicaragua, sobre el que se asienta Granada.
Comience su recorrido por Granada con una visita al centro cultural de la Casa de los Tres Mundos. Creada para apoyar y promover los proyectos culturales en Nicaragua y el resto de América Central, la Casa de los Tres Mundos está situada en una hermosa mansión colonial, que podrá visitar con su guía. Eche un vistazo a la galería de arte que incluye pinturas de artistas locales y conozca la historia detrás del centro a través de su guía. A continuación se dirigirá al Parque Central para visitar los mercados locales y admirar la arquitectura colonial de camino al Convento y Museo de San Francisco, una impresionante iglesia colonial con una fachada de color azul. Visite el impresionante museo dentro de la iglesia, donde podrá ver estatuas y cerámica precolombina. As a native Nicaraguan, Granada has always had a special place in my heart. It is one of the most beautiful colonial cities of Nicaragua. This was the second tour that we had with our guide, Moises Ferreti. The previous day, he had taken us to Leon, and the day after he took us for a tour around Managua. Moises was always very professional, knowledgeable, personable, and most of all flexible. This day really put his flexibility and knowledge to the test. Part of the tour includes a boat ride on Lake Nicaragua to visit the beautiful Isletas de Granada, a group of 365 small islands that were created after the eruption of the nearby Mombacho Volcano. Due to the threat of Hurricane Otto, the port of Granada was closed and no boats were allowed to go on the lake. This was obviously outside of Moises and tour company's control. Therefore, Moises had to really think on his feet to find a suitable substitution since going out on the lake was out of the question. Before doing that, Moises took us to explore Granada. As I mentioned before, Granada is a beautiful colonial city. I find it to be more beautiful than its colonial sister and ancient rival, the city of Leon. The colonial houses of Granada are so beautiful that it's a real shame that many have been converted to retail space. Granada has a vast number of churches, which Moises took us to visit and share some of the history of each church. Many of the churches in Granada, including the cathedral, are much newer than the ones found in Leon. In part, this is due to the invasion by American mercenary William Walker, who briefly became the president of Nicaragua, and put the city of Granada to the torch. Some of the few churches that survived the blaze still bear the scars of the inferno. Granada also has a beautiful museum inside a monastery. The monastery includes Nicaraguan art, displays regarding Nicaraguan culture, and some pre-Columbian artifacts. After exploring Granada, Moises took us to the Laguna de Apoyo as a substitute to the boat ride in the lake. Laguna de Apoyo is a volcanic lake that straddles the border between the departments of Granada and Masaya. I have visited Laguna de Apoyo many times, but only along the edges of the ancient crater. You can catch breathtaking views of the lake from Catarina, and a popular meeting place called El Mirador. Hiking trails can be found along the slopes of the crater. The natural beauty of Laguna de Apoyo from El Mirador is breathtaking. But it pales in comparison to going down to the shore of the lake, which is something that I had never done. Moises, our tour guide took us down to the lake shore, which is dominated by exclusive resorts. Thanks to his connections, he was able to obtain access for us to one of the resorts, where we spend a couple of hours by the shore, overlooking at the placid waters of the lake, relaxing in the afternoon soon. Although it was disappointing to not being able to visit Las Isletas de Granada, which is one of my favorite places in Nicaragua, I appreciate that Moises was able to find a suitable substitution. If you have never been to Granada and its famous Isletas, I definitely recommend this tour. And I definitely recommend Moises as a tour guide. He is the best!
Interesting town with a few things to do. Lake ride was fun too but too short. Guide made the whole day worth it. Henry's knowledge of everything and care for his clients can't be beat. Looked after my son as if his own.

The tour was absolutely wonderful. Our tour guide, Erick, was not only friendly but very knowledgeable about the history of the city. This was very impressive. Being history buffs, we found this quite interesting. The city itself is beautiful and again, Erick, put us at ease in our new surroundings. The boat ride was of course peaceful and gorgeous. Erick, again amazed us by courting the monkeys and by surprising wifey with a flower that grew inside a banana shaped plant hanging from a tree. Amazing!!

We could not have been MORE pleased with this tour! Our guide Erick was excellent, so informative, spoke both languages to perfection, and knew the answer to every question we asked. The city and sights were beautiful and interesting, lunch was at a charming garden restaurant, and the boat tour so fun and relaxing - and we saw more than a dozen species of herons, kingfishers, and other birds. Would recommend this tour to anyone!
