Variable

We had a great tie in Rothenburg and enjoyed Harburg Castle even more than expected. The bus was comfortable, and we thought it was a good amount of time for a day trip.
It was started for us from Munich to the castle of Rothenburg, the visit in the castle was good but with high rush and no enough time for everyone to take pictures in large group, then we moved to Harburg which was simply amazing but required more time than 3 hours The distance back to Munich was very long 3 hours+ which was very exhausting
The castle and Rothenburg were interesting and we spent an appropriate amount of time in both places. Getting there and back was another story - the "romantic road" is now mostly cornfields. Perhaps it was okay on the way there, but we really didn't need to do it again on the way home, which we did for much if the return. Considering that most if the bus was asleep, the highway would have been fine and about an hour shorter according to my Google maps.
The tour guide on this outing on this day was fantastic! She really gave us lots of information and tips about how to best use our time in Rothenburg. Rothenburg was completely charming-- not to be missed!
This was a memorable and satisfying your. Christine, our guide, was quite good and gave a lot of information. Must try.
Plan to spend hours on a double-decker bus. The upside, you get to see a medieval castle, which was interesting enough, but you have to pay extra - make sure you have cash for this. Then it's more driving to Rothenburg, which is a quaint walking city turned tourist trap. Expensive restaurants, lots of cute shops, not a lot of history. Followed by 3 hours driving home.
Rothenburg was a lovely little city and well worth spending a day there. Harburg Castle was rather stark but then you get to the banquet hall - a wonderful surprise. As one reviewer mentioned, the tour guide Arnoud was cranky. I think that's kind. It was hardest sell I've ever heard for tips. He came flat out and told the Asian passengers that while it may be rude to tip in their country, this was not the case in Germany - extremely off putting.
The guide new her details but delayed our time at the main stop as we walked slowly up the road which could have been used looking at other parts of the town. The bus driver was very good plus had a good supply of liquids at very cheap prices.
Excellence tour guide gave lots of explanation and history of the area. This is an 11 hour tour so plan accordingly.
A must to do. A very beautiful city. The Christmas store is a must and they can mail your gifts. Definitely would do again. Food was great.
Harburg Castle and Rothenburg were phenomenal. We are so glad we booked this tour. It would be worth extending the time a couple hours longer to allow more time in Rothenburg. There is so much to see and do. We had Arnoud as our English tour guide. He did not talk much about what to expect or the history of the area, like we usually get on bus tours. He was more cranky because the tour was full. A better guide would have made the trip perfect and awarded four stars. .
lucky to book a sunday tour. harburg castle tour was led by a new guide, eva, who despite little english managed to give us a good tour. rothenburg was like going back in time - very quaint town and very good freshly pressed apple juice near museum at town center. we’d book viator again for this tour since all went well!
Highly recommend this tour. I unfortunately was stricken with motion sickness as I forgot my medication at the hotel and the road is very curvy but I didnt let that ruin things. Once we had boots on the ground, and a little food, I was able to really enjoy the walled village and everything else that went with it.
What a interesting tour. Our guide Christinewas very knowledgeable about both places and went out of her way to answer questions.
Excellent information from our tour guide. He provided great information not only of the sites but throughout the bus ride. Enjoyed both castle and Rothenburg. Great views and bus was confortable for the road trip. I highly recommended.
Very nice tour enough time to wander and shop weather was not so good but good tour guide and driver
Peter was our tour guide and he was great! Very informative from start to finish. We started in Munich and he went through some of the sites we passed. Throughout the trip he would give us info about towns we were passing. Once we got to Harburg Castle the group was split into two. Our guide at the castle had such a great personality. The Castle itself was very interesting to walk through, and before we reached the castle Peter and the bus driver stopped for a few minutes so we could snap a few good pics from far away. We headed more down romantic road and got to Rothenburg (A MUST SEE), and got a guided tour that took about an hour before we split up to do our own thing. Lots to see and do in Rothenburg but felt we had adequate time to do all we wanted to. When you’re there get a Schneeball (snowball...short crust pastry they’re famous for)! It then was a 3 hour bus ride back to Munich without any stopping. We had a great day despite the weather not being the best, and I would do this tour again in a heartbeat!
I loved this day tour, I will be going back and doing an overnight stay in the future.
