Variable

This trip would have warranted 5☆ despite the mixed weather conditions but for the guide. I have never heard a guide talk so much and say so little so watch out for Peter.... The trip itself was spectacular but even in July it was 5°c with a cold wind. However, once the cloud lifted the views were to die for! We had over 2.5 hours at the summit, which was plenty of time to grab a bite to eat and take as many photos as we wanted. The trip down on the cog wheel train took 1hr 20 but was a really interesting trip and the train itself was a true feat of engineering! If you have the time - don't miss this trip!
love seeing zugspitz and this tour did a great job.
The Monastery tour was a little disappointing. More of an in-and-out thing. We didn't get to see the brewery since it was closed, and there was a service going in the church, so it was a bit weird trying to go in to see how it looked. Zugspitze is quite the experience. Would recommend, but just be aware that the weather at that altitude is highly variable. Don't expect to see four countries... GO expecting to see some breath-taking mountain scenery, and then be really happy if you get a clear day and can see everything.
This is a fun day trip with beautiful landscapes everywhere. We enjoyed the tour, but there were two downsides to the trip. First, Gray Line sold virtually every seat on our bus. Therefore, even though our tour guide was excellent, it was sometimes hard moving more than sixty people from place to place. Second, there really isn't much to see at Ettal Monastery--only the chapel. Perhaps a better place to visit, which is not much farther away, would have been Wieskirche--a Unesco World Heritage sight.
