The Amalfi Coastline is simply spectacular however overcrowded with tourists and lacking access roads, thank goodness otherwise it would be impossible with tourist overflow. Don’t even think of self drive. Our driver, Antonio, was great despite modest communication issues in English.
My sister and I recently toured the Amalfi coast on a stop on our Norwegian cruise. We easily located our guide at the port and were joined by just three other guests in our small group tour. We had a scenic drive, first stopping at the Lemoncello factory where we were treated to a shot of the delicious liqueur! We then toured the beautiful town of Positano . We were treated to a delicious included lunch at a cliff side restaurant with beautiful views.((a definate highlight ) We then we’re able to spend some free time in Amalfi. Would highly recommend Viator and this tour in particular . Everything was exceptional !
The Good: We saw Amalfi and Ravello each for 1 hour which were two very quaint towns with beautiful views of the coast and hillside. Our driver was nice. The Bad: The driver's English was worse than my Italian (which is terrible). There was no guide and this was supposed to be an English guided tour. The Ugly: At the beginning of our tour, the driver indicated that this tour was for Amalfi, Positano, and Sorrento without lunch (as opposed to Amalfi, Positano, and Ravello with lunch as described in the tour). We tried to be understanding and went along with it. We drove through Ravello without stopping and proceeded directly to Amalfi. After we finished in Amalfi, the driver told us that he contacted his company and they realized they made a mistake with the itinerary. They then wanted to change the itinerary back to the correct one and drive back to Ravello. However, this meant backtracking a significant distance in poor traffic that cost us at least 3 hours of wasted time. On top of this, the tour company grouped us with people from a cruise who had a deadline to be back at their ship. As a result of all these mistakes by the tour company, we ran out of time and had to turn right around to drive back the same way we came, skip lunch, skip Positano (and not see Sorrento either), and return to Naples hungry.. Overall we were obviously extremely disappointed with the experience and would recommend avoiding booking a tour with "Worldtours" at all costs.
The tour was extremely beautiful! Lea The guide was lovely, the driver managed to get through the hard roads safely. We had free time in Amalfi and Ravelo, small launch in a resturant with fantastic view. Beneath the resturant there is emerald cave which who ever wanted entered. Great experience, highly recommended.
This is the second time I've taken a tour of Amalfi Coast. It is a beautiful and relaxing tour which leaves the driving to those more experienced with the narrow roads. Driver spoke excellent english and was very helpful assisting my blind handicap adult son. A wonderful lunch is provided. A lovely way to end a hectic tour of several countries and cities
We had the most amazing experience! The lunch was delicious and the tour guide and driver were very friendly. The views from the restaurant that we ate lunch at were truly magical. I would highly recommend this tour! The tour guide was waiting for us outside the cruise port. The views along the Amalfi coast are breath taking. It's my new favorite spot in Italy. If you are prone to motion sickness you may want to take some Dramamine as you drive down a lot of winding roads... but it's so worth it! We stopped at several places along the way...a lemoncello factory where we sampled chocolates and lemoncello. The views were great from the factory. We stopped in one spot to see positano. Then we stopped in Almafi and walked around while we ate gelato and visited the beach. I found lots of little pieces of sea glass along the beach. Our last stop was in Ravello which is such a charming town. The entire tour was amazing I can't say enough good things about it!
Overall, we were happy with the trip. It was raining, so we did the itinerary backward. Lunch was included and if the weather had been good, I'm sure the view would have been wonderful. The other family books on the van canceled because of weather. We were very happy that the tour continued. We spent a lot of time asking questions and were intrigued by the answers. Great churches in Amalfi and Ravello. We also had time to tour the villa in Ravello, right next to the church. Good stop for Lemoncello tasting with the possibility of purchasing afterward.
