Everything went smoothly. Bruno our guide was very informative. So much to see and do. A walking tour in the morning and a visit to see the Liberty Bell. Also saw where Betsy Ross lived and a very pretty street. After lunch we saw the steps that Rocky climbed in one of his films. Also the statue of him. Later we had a buggy ride with the Amish. It was then off to Kettle Kitchen to purchase some lovely produce made by the Amish. A fantastic day out.
Very enjoyable trip even if I was a bit jet lagged during the excursions. Brian Montgomery the guide was very friendly and knowledgeable about all the places and especially the Independence period. The only minor gripe is that I initially went to the location at Empire Vacations early only to see a sign saying that they had moved back to Gray Line departure terminal, and then when I double checked with a Gray Line member he informed me that I should have waited at the Empire Vacations terminal. I rushed back to the Empire Vacation terminal to find the tour group leaving on foot to where the bus departed. I had made it just on time! Clearer signage might be appropriate. Also I found the Amish experience a bit gimmicky, perhaps an invitation inside a farm house or mock farm house would be a possible idea. I didn't think the "village style" shopping mall was anything unique. But big thanks to Brian, thanks for an enjoyable day. Cheers
Really enjoyed this tour especially visiting the Amish community. Enjoyed the buggy ride plus the stop at Kitchen Kettle.
Well what can I say this trip was fantastic. It was a very long day but it was well worth it, I took my 78 year old mother and she also thoroughly enjoyed it. It was timed to perfection. Our guide Ben was so informative and answered any extra questions that were asked of him. I didn't realise how historic Philadelphia was. Also visiting the Rocky steps and being able to run up them was fantastic as I am a Rocky (the film) fan. Visiting the Amish was great too, the only tiny thing that did disappoint me was there wasn't more products being sold that the Amish make. They have a little village that you visit and are able to walk around the shops, I would have thought there would have been Amish people serving in them but there wasn't and most of the goods in the shops had been shipped in. The products that were made by the Amish were delicious. Great tour
Our tour was multi lingual, 40 people half English speaking, the other half Italian. First part, Philadelphia was nice. Freedom bell and the old historical sites, as well as the art museum's stairs (Rocky stairs). The Amish tour was a shame. The guide have not bothered to fill the carts with same language groups, so we were packed with 12 loud Italians, with no possibility at all to hear the Amish guide explanations. The tour guide did not take the ride. At least he could join the Italians and it would have been better also for them. We expressed our disappointment to the guide, who did not bother to react. At the end of the tour the guide demanded a gratuity to him, the driver and Chinese and Japanese guides who joined the tour. Be aware!
booked this trip for parents visiting from out of country. They totally loved it. Felt is was very informative and fun.
The hub and I took this day trip on 04/15/19. Firstly, grayline should have someone at their front desk to greet and direct customers as they walk in. It was a mess with various tours all over the place and mass confusion. Secondly, don't have customers waiting outside of the bus in the rain before allowing them on the bus. The tour in itself was good, but more time could have been spent at the liberty bell and less time at the Amish place which is ridiculously over commercialized. I was disappointed with the amish buggy ride. Not what I expected. However, if you want a taste of Philly, this is it. Also there should be an opportunity for guests to shop around for souvenirs.
Great experience - historical place in Philadelphia was a truly amazing place tour guide was well informed and did a good presentation. I really did not enjoy the Amish Country part of the trip seemed to be more of a tourist trap. As with all the tours there seems to be a lack of time to spend at each place by the tour guide - I wish Viator would allow more time for the tour guide to spend at each location so you can really take it all in.
We enjoyed it very much. The tour guide was excellent. Just the waiting area before tour needs organization.
For people who are time poor this is the tour for you, alot of bus travel through some beautiful countryside. We got to see the historical highlights of Philadelphia and the famous Rocky steps. Armish land was interesting, our horse and buggy driver Sue gave us a great insight into the Armish and how the area has changed over time and how the people maintain their beliefs and values in modern times. Fantastic driver and tour guide keep the tour runnjjng smoothly. My only negivate I would have liked more time with the Armish people and less at the shopping market.
