This tour was one of the best I have ever experienced in all my travels. Our tour guide, Graham of Altitude tours was very kind and very knowledgable. The whole trip was amazing!
It was raining all day but it was for the best because we're able to experience multiple water falls and our tour guide Rob [i hope i get it right] has lots to share and very accomodating.. he cooked excellent bbq! The cruise pips are also excellent pointing to us what to look for.. it was exhilarating experience! Wonder of nature!
The Milford Sound BBQ Experience was fantastic. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining throughout our day trip. The group was very intimate (just 6 of us) which allowed us to stop and see things the large tour buses could not necessarily experience. The barbecue lunch on the boat was also quite tasty!
We had a great time on this day trip - the pacing of the day was good, the guide was very friendly and gave us a lot of good info about New Zealand and Milford Sound. I'd definitely do this trip again!
The drive and stops along the way to the Milford sound boat ride was beautiful. Rob was an excellent, friendly and knowledgeable guide. The boat ride was great as was the crew.
This was an amazing day as we traveled from Queenstown to Milford Sound and back. Nigel was an excellent tour guide, driver, and cook. He shared many interesting details along the way and made some beautiful stops along the way. Being part of the BarBque bus was a great alternative to the large tour group buses as well as driving the route in our rental car.
Hotel pick up was timely and convenient. Multiple scenic stops along the way including restroom stop each way. Driver very pleasant humorous and informative. Lunch was delicious served at an historic cabins maintained somewhat in their original state from the gold rush days. Boat crew were friendly and chatty. While a long day this is an iconic New Zealand outing that should not be missed...pack a snack for the way home...
I booked this trip as a solo traveler and chose this one initially on the appeal that it was a smaller group and that it'd likely be a better and more intimate way to see Milford Sound and the trip went beyond expectations.Rob was an incredible guide and while some might argue that the drive is something you could easily do yourself in a hire car the local knowledge and experience that Rob brought to the trip can't be undervalued - plus, you get to spend the whole trip looking out at the scenery instead of focusing on the road.Being a smaller group we had the ability to stop more frequently for photos and scenic points of interest than the larger coaches and our boat cruise of Milford was also on a smaller vessel than the big coaches would have had to book, which meant a more relaxed and intimate tour of the sound itself. The BBQ part of the trip was also great. I dropped a note that I was vegetarian and was perfectly catered to. Don't let dietary restrictions stop you from considering this tour. All in all, after taking this tour with Rob as our guide I wouldn't even imagine recommending any other tour to anyone visiting the area and wanting to see Milford. He was quick to point out any wildlife we came across and brought a great mix of humor and information to the journey out and back.
We travelled on the BBQ bus a few days ago to Milford Sound. What a beautiful place to see, a must do if you go to New Zealand. However, we found out the day of the tour that the boat that would normally take us out on the cruise was not operating, therefore we could not have a BBQ lunch, instead we were on a much larger cruise boat with a provided buffet lunch which was absolutely terrible. We definately did not get what we paid for. If we knew that we were not getting a BBQ lunch, then we would have cancelled our tour and driven out ourselves! We would have saved a whole lot of money doing so as well as the tour was very expensive. Overall, it was a nice but long day trip. But we were riding a BBQ bus that did not provide a BBQ and we booked this trip for that reason. So pretty disappointing in the end, but you must visit Milford Sound!
This was one of the best tours i have joined so far. Our guide graham gave us really good insight about the area and made sure we stopped at the amazing sites.
