We had a great tour guide. David found us great seating for the Popes weekly visit with the people. We were able to see the Pope when he came in as well as up on the stage. Our guide was very knowledgeable about Catholic history and faith. Great tour.
David, our tour leader did a good job in making sure we have good seats. He was good and fun. We were seated in front where we can see the Pope.
Excellent trip!
The tour was ok, We were picked up from our hotel right on time and they take us to the Vatican. But that’s it. The tour guide only lead us to the room where the Pappal audience was. No explanation or suggestions about where to seat or the best spot to see the Pope more closely.
This tour included a hotel pickup IF you were staying at a central Rome hotel. The Hotel Napoleon was our hotel they considered themselves centrally located but we weren't able to get a pickup because I called too late. We arrived Rome 10/16, our Papal Audience tour was for Wed, 10/18. I wasn't able to call until the late afternoon of 10/17. So we hopped into a taxi at 6:30am to be dropped off at the tour's office. That's where some confusion lay. From the office, we all about 40-60 people were escorted down to a bus pickup point. We had to ask several times Which bus? One guide said to follow him, so we did, only to find out that the bus was for Spanish-speaking only folks. Then another guide said the English-speaking bus had not arrived yet. After we finally got the correct bus, the bus tour guide, I believe his name was Roberto, gave us an excellent commentary while driving to the Vatican. Excellent speaker, and always made sure the group was together from start to finish. We were given coupons for free water/gelato for after the Papal Audience. I would say by the time we got to the Vatican, most of the seats by the barricades were taken. Roberto gave directions as to where to sit my wife and I were lucky enough to score two chairs near the barricade, which was great, because the PopeMobile passed within 5 feet of us and we were lucky enough to see Pope Francis' smiling face up front! THAT made the fast-paced walk from the but to the Vatican worthwhile. Those of you who have had walking guided tours know that guides do not shuffle. They are speedwalkers! My wife has a walking disability so we were always one of the last in the group, but our guide stopped occasionally to insure we were still with the group. This tour was a one-way bus trip to St Peter's Square. And since Rome has a heavy presence of Italian Army at numerous checkpoints on major thoroughfares, getting around was a bit slow. But it all worked out for us. I'd recommend the tour. Gave only 4 stars because we never got the free bus pickup at our 4-star hotel. So if you do purchase this tour, call immediately to see if your hotel is in their perimeter of pickups.
Great job in getting us to our seating area. Amazing experience! Worth the relatively small cost to get escorted to the proper gates, through security and to the seating area.
Highly recommended to get a tour for this as it is completely hassle free. Or else you would have to pick up the tickets yourself and make your way to a packed St. Peter's Square. This tour guaranteed us a seat at the audience. However, our tour guide wasn't very coordinated in telling us where to wait or sit once we made it past security.
