Easily transported from the port to Rome. There is a 5-10 minute walk from the coach bus to the Hop-On-Hop Off bus stop, but the tour was very informative and stopped at / close to must see spots in Rome. Keep in mind your return time to the port.
The bus operator picked us up where the free port shuttle dropped us. They were very helpful and easily recognizable. The bus ride to Rome was comfortable and cool. In Rome the bus stops were frequent and accessible.
Took a shuttle bus from ship to pickup point. Unfortunately, even though we had our confirmation papers, our names were not on the tour list and so there was some delay while the company figured out what to do. We were put on another bus which took us into Rome and we were dropped off at the Colosseum. Line up for regular tickets was less than an hour. Spent over an hour exploring - an amazing place to visit. Used the Hop-on Hop-Off to get to Trevi Fountain and then walked around area before getting bus back to Port. Way too much to see in a limited time visit. Long trip (1.5 hours) from Port to city.
This was a last minute choice the day before.and it was a great choice. First off if you are on a cruise ship you aren't going to see much of Rome..there is not enough time...from the port its 1 hr 30min.... each way and Rome is full of tourists!!! Taxi can cost you 300 Euros!! So you save time by getting on a van and just being dropped in Rome to catch the big Bus...forget doing the train and transfers adn walking.....you will spend the day trying to get there....Riding the bus around without getting off is about 1 hr 30 min....but we were the only people in a van coming from the port!! and it was really nice...DO give the company a number you have turned on here in Italy and will answer...we were to be a 2 with 5 more to be picked up and the other 5 did not answer their phones when they changed pickup location to right in front of the ship! as they brought a van to pick us up.......or text or email! It will take you 3 hours to see Vatican Museum so the hop on really lets you see more of Rome than you can be trying to get your self around...the traffic is horrendous and parking is non existent so just take the bus! Choose one tour...collesium or vatican....you will never get both done on a one day trip to Rome....and don't buy water from the street vendors....they reuse the bottles and they are not sealed bottles...UG!!! watched one lady bust the guy and tore off the top and throw it... carry a nice Stanley thermos w ice water!!!.....honestly saved us when Rome was 94!! and PS NO PUBLIC TOILETTS....so plan your stops with restaurants and potty stops. usually cost you a Euro or 2 if you do find one!
was as mentioned. the bus picked us up and dropped us off near the place where the hop on hop off starts
The registration at the meeting point and the bus ride to and from went great, nice and easy. Only suggestion, would be that the host/hostess on the bus could have provided a little bit of commentary along the way for those who hadn't been there before.
