Great tour and an awesome guide. She was very knowledgeable and and easy to understand. So glade that we were able to take this tour.
We had an excellent guide and having access to parts of Colosseum not available on other tours was a bonus.
Gigi was an absolutely fantastic tour guide! Knowledgeable, engaging, enthusiastic, entertaining--he was everything you could want for a tour guide and then some. I learned a ton on this tour and also had great fun. Highly recommend!
I was not happy with the trip organizers because they did not give us the tickets to go back to the site the next day! If you buy the EU12 entry ticket to the Colosseum, Forum and Palantine Hill - you get a 2 day entry ticket. With this night tour, the sites are closed, so there is not time to explore the Forum or Palantine hill and you have to pay again to go back the next day! This sucked we paid so much for this tour and couldn't even visit the Forum and Palantine Hill! Helena was a great guide but the guide for the Colosseum tour even though he was nice, we couldn't understand him because of his poor English! I did enjoy the part about not dealing with the crowds though!!
This tour was everything you would expect and more. The meeting spot was a bit confusing, but the guide called about 10 minutes before the start time to make sure we were on our way, and he helped guide us to the right spot. Super friendly and informative guide, and gave everyone equal time for pictures. Great job!
Great tour. Our guide Massimo shared some great stories so we could understand how the romans lived. The tour was very long and challenging in Rome’s 40 degree temperatures so think wisely before signing up.
Colosseum by night with all the explanation and atmosphere of ancient time recreated is the best choice .Our guide was excellent. Tour operator resolved very prompt our problem( nobody came at the meeting point). We start the tour from Trajan Column with another guide who explain the history of the Roman Forum and Capitoline Hill till we arrived at Colosseum. There are about few tourist who choose to visit Colosseum by night and this is an advantage, too.
I never thought being so close to what happened almost 2000 years ago. Chiara is a very knowledgeable artchitecture and she prepares you in advance for what to expect while you are inside the coliseum. Claudia is a,so an artchitecture plus a tour guide: her service was excellent, her explanations regarding the Nerón era plus the foro Julio Cesar Ancient Rome where excellent too. Great tour. A MUST
I never expected to enjoy the evening tour as much as I did. I was concerned that I wouldn’t be able to see the beauty of the Colosseum, I was wrong. The Colosseum was empty, no lines, and the lighting provided a beautiful view of the ruins. Our guide was great and knowledgeable. Due to the late hour of the tour we were unable to get a tour of the forum so our guide took us for a walk around the the outside of the forum, to other sites and to the Colosseum. Highly recommended...
What a fantastic experience. I had been to Rome previously one time, but was arriving on a cruise ship and barely skimmed the Colosseum. This tour made up for my previous one. Walking on the main stage, seeing the underground, and touring through the Roman Forum was spectacular. I cannot even describe how cool it was, especially with an easy to understand and welcoming tour guide as CityWonders provided. He ensured nobody was left behind, answers many questions, took great photos for us (!!!), and made sure to cover some much information. We were tired by the end, but it was because we fully got our moneys worth. This was an item on my bucket list and I feel as though I got the full experience that I was looking for. I wish I remember our specific tour guides name — shorter gentleman, beard and pierced ear. If you get him, just know you are in good hands! I’m sure the others are fantastic as well, as each of the CityWonders tours that we booked ended in great experiences.
Rosaria was our guide and she was great. The colosseum was awesome and so was the underground. If I had to make any suggestion, I would have like to walked through some of the exhibits inside the Colosseum.
In all of Italy this is what I was most looking forward to - but regret doing. If you are expecting to thoroughly explore the underground of the Colosseum you’ll be very disappointed. We weren’t in the underground for any longer than 10 minutes. On the “Colosseum Underground Tour” we spent more time outside of the colosseum walking around Rome (which wasn’t meant to be part of the tour) seeing other attractions (and no it wasn’t even the Roman forum as it suggests). The time that was spent in the Colosseum was mainly taken up by watching projections on walls and listening to a pair of speakers telling a story. So disappointed.
We had a great tour with Massimo as our guide and the early access was key as by the time we were leaving the colosseum it was getting jam packed. Massimo was knowledgeable and helped add a lot context to the tour in an entertaining way. The only knock on the tour was that the underground was a little underwhelming as there isn’t a lot of it open to the public and is still being restored. Great tour overall!
Wonderful to walk by everyone standing in line and have the best views of everything. Great guide with lots if information and very helpful. Truly an amazing experience that should not be missed while in Rome. Teenage son loved it as well.
Met by brilliant team from City Wonders. Very professional and knowledgeable, our guide was Rosealba who was just great.. very relaxed but we learnt so much on this tour of the Colosseum, The Forum and Palatine Hill. And of course we were led past long queues, well worth it for the fast track experience.
Both guides were amazing, assionate, knowledgeable and friendly. Small group. No long Ines or waiting.
Our guide, Nick, was so enthusiastic and knowledgable about the history of Rome and the Colosseum! He really made the tour awesome!
A wonderful way to see Colosseum without crowds of people and not in the heat of the sun. Our guides were very informative.
Our guides were knowledgeable and helpful. We experienced so much and learned new facts. I have a better understanding of the history. I highly recommend this tour.
Excellent guided trip, Amil Bello the guide was enthusiastic, knowledgable, was very organised and brought a very calm and light atmosphere to a very educational experience . The colosseum provided their own guide too who was a wealth of knowledge and very likeable. A truly memorable trip I would recommend to anyone visiting Rome
Our tour guide, Laura, was fantastic. Her knowledge of the history of Rome was outstanding. She spoke impeccable English and was able to answer all questions posed by the group. Would highly recommend this tour.
Our guide Massimo did a great job keeping the group on their toes by asking some easy history questions and adding humor to the descriptions of some pretty interesting/gruesome Roman history. He was so engaging we tried to see if our schedule would allow us to do a different tour with him but our schedule didn’t work out. Thanks to City wonders (tour company) and thanks to Massimo
We really enjoyed this tour and really recommend the early departure time as there are very few people in the area that early. This tour gets you to areas of the Colosseum that are not very crowded and going early helps avoid the crowds even more. Our tour guide was so great and fun. The only complaint is that we were unable to see the Roman Forum as the lines were too long and we wouldn't make our next tour had we waited.
GOOD: Tour guide was knowledgeable and likeable and included all the interesting bits of information and was able to answer most questions well. BAD: Organization. Both my friends (a group of 5) and mine (group of 3) were moved to the April 4, 11:45 time. On arrival, there were two guides. One guide got the group of my 5 friends, ONLY! and the other got the three of us PLUS 18 OTHERS. We asked to go with the much smaller group that consisted of our 5 friends and the organizer said no, she couldn't do that and said it was a private tour. Our 5 friends were encouraging us to join them and had assumed, because of the move to the same time, we were on the same tour. I dislike a large tour group (hence going to your "small group tour" that was NOT so small.) It made me angry and I had to really concentrate to brush it off and enjoy the tour as it was.
Both tour guides were very informative. All the sites were amazing and unbelievable. Be prepared to be walking a lot and climbing steep steps. Overall, it was very enjoyable experience and I highly recommend for anyone thinking about taking this tour.
so pleased we booked this tour - our guide bought it to life with all the facts and history. Amazing place and tour very well organised
Francesca was knowledgeable and thoughtful with her guidance. Great tour! I would definitely recommend her to friends in the future! We had a few long waits, but she handled them like a pro!
Overall I loved this tour and would recommend doing it. It was worth the money. It was awesome to experience every level of the Colosseum. The views from the higher levels were just breathtaking.
Excellent tour. Our guide was very friendly and is a scholarly of the history of Rome. Highly recommended.
Very good tour, access to arena floor and underground. Extremely busy so suggest early tour! We had Fabrazio as tour guide through City Wonders and he spoke good English and was very knowledgeable. Skip the line was great, group of around 20. Would definitely recommend this tour.
Both guides were wonderful and very well educated, we are so very glad that we choose this tour. We felt like it was well worth the money. We were able to see what we really wanted to see and we have brought back some very fond memories. Dean and Sherry
