fantastic tour of Valparaiso with Felipe and his excellent driver. very informative and humorous. lunch was delicious and the best wine tasting I have ever been to.
Very good tour. Easy communication via e-mail with the tour guide who spoke perfect English. The vineyard tour was informative on organic grape growing and wine production. Wine tasting paired with chocolate or cheese is included. Wineshop prices are quite reasonable. Once in Valparaiso we took a local street car to the port. Then started the walking tour. Unfortunately the funicular to take us to the first Cerro was out of service which required us to climb a series of steps I am guessing 60-80, There are a couple of other staircases to climb, but they more reasonable 10-20 stairs. Although the tour guides insisted there was no hurry to complete the climb, the stairs did take a toll on a couple of tour members. The walk around the cerro 's was very interesting- incredible street art. The funicular going down was in service, so no issues there. They took us to a nice restaurant with a view for lunch about 3pm, so be sure to eat a good breakfast before the and/tour or bring some snacks along.
This day trip is so much better than it sounds on the website. The wine tour is a really nice and interesting visit to an organic, environmentally and socially sustainable vineyard. Even the wine tasting was enjoyable and informative. The walking tour of Valparaiso was great. We visited lots of streets and alleys with Berti, our excellent guide, and felt we had had a really good exploration of the city in the time available to us.
A wonderful day with Valentina as our expert guide and our driver Francisco who had the patience of a saint with all the traffic he navigated us through. Valparaiso is such an interesting city, which personally I'd love to return to and photograph in greater detail... such a blank canvas for the camera lens. It was certainly a busy day with two cruise ships in port, but as we had a reasonably early start, we didn't really encounter to many other tourists until later in the morning. We both had a welcome lunch at the Calfulafquen and an ice cold beer Del Puerto Pale Ale, which I wish we could get here in Australia Restaurant before heading off to the Emiliana Organic Vineyard for a tour of the vines and a very informative view of the organic side of grapevines growing is. Once again many thanks and best wishes to Valentina for her future photographic ventures.
The guide picked us up right on time, and we made good time to Valparaiso. Once there, she walked us up and down the narrow streets, winding our way through the beautiful city. Having lived in Valparaiso, she was very knowledgeable and informative, as well as accommodating when we wanted to stop to take pictures or talk more about a statue or a building. She made sure we were able to ride the various forms of transportation to experience the city a bit more like a local. She took us to a wonderful restaurant for lunch and gave us a bit of alone time to eat, and then we walked through a market and were able to buy a few things. After we left Valparaiso we went on a wine tour at a gorgeous vineyard and enjoyed some of the best wine we've had. We were dropped back off at the hotel around 6:30 pm. It was the perfect day trip and we would highly recommend it to anyone.
