This was really a spectacular experience and our highlight of Valencia. We were a group of 5 and this was far less than what they usually get and this about 15 and above students during peak tourist time. So i think going in November was great due to less tourists. This was amazing from the moment we went to shop for the ingredients for our chicken and rabbit Paella. They tell us what one can use in case the ingredients cannot be found in your own country. The moment we stepped inside the school, they told us not to worry about pictures for they will take them themselves and this they did from when we left to shop right until our Paellas were done. We were couples from South Africa and south side of Italy and one woman from Uruguay but we all did not feel left out in terms of what to do and understanding instructions. The chef spoke mostly Spanish but Mary I might be getting the name wrong whom we went shopping with was also our interpreter and did very well. When the cooking began, my goodness so much fun it was with every little step explained. We thought the only time we will eat was when our Paellas were ready but boy did food and lots of wine keep coming. This was to the point that when the Paellas were done, we were feeling a bit full. So mind how much you eat, as you don't want to spoil your appetite. Even after the Paellas there was dessert. The chef was so hilarious, he made us sing in Spanish and dance around the stove as we instruct our paella to cook well and be delicious! This was theee best experience at this school ever!!! They certify you unprofessionally afterwards and send your pictures just a couple of days later. This is highly highly recommended!
The Chef is lovely,we had a great time and the Paella was delicious, we have already cooked one upon our return.
This was a great experience! We thoroughly enjoyed our upbeat cooking class. Don't miss the market shopping trip for supplies which adds significantly to the overall experience.
Great Tour. Chef and staff were amazing. Best Paella I eating and also cooked in my entire life. The experience was so great that if I ever go back to Valencia I will only eat Paella there.
The class exceeded our expectations in every possible way. The trip to the market to purchase the ingredients not only provided much needed knowledge on what to look for and substitutions, but also provided a cultural education. The Chef and his assistant were amazing. We took this class with my mother-in-law who is from Colombia and has been making Paella longer than I've been alive 60 birthday was this year. She loved it and learned quite a few items!
Great fun! Nacho led us to the market where we bought our fresh ingredients for the class. Then Chef Beni took into the kitchen where our group of 7 prepared three large pans of paella. Both men had a great sense of humor. The self-made, authentic paella was delicious and served with appetizer, wine and rice! dessert. We're both very happy with the experience.
I found Escuela de Arroces y Paella and was a bit on the fence at first because of a small number of reviews but I can tell you with all sincerity that this was one of the best gambles I made on my month-long vacation and I highly, highly recommend this course. I was offered by my hotel concierge to book a paella course that was less than half the price but something in me didn't feel as confident about the one he was describing so I instead booked this class which came with the panoramic city tour and the only regret I have is that I made it for my last day in Valencia rather than my first. The school is situated very close to Placa de la Reina and, as other reviews stated, isn't super easy to find but Google Maps helps you out! The location of the school kitchen and associated restaurant are beautifully stylish, clean, and elegant. Even if I had not taken a cooking class there, I would have paid to eat there! Chef Jaime doesn't speak any English but it didn't end up being any problem at all because there was a lovely sous chef who served as my translator, and it made my experience more authentic! We learned great tips and techniques and the end result was absolutely amazing. I had a wonderful experience and would do it again!
