Acerca de esta actividad
Explore the historic castle of Trakošćan which was built in the late 13th century, named after the Thracian fortress which allegedly existed in antiquity. In 1954 the museum was established with a permanent exhibition. On the way to the ethno village of Kumrovec founded in 1954 – the birthplace of Marshal Josip Broz Tito you will visit The fort of Veliki Tabor, one of the most important cultural and historical monuments of secular architecture in continental Croatia, with a unique monumental and authentic fortification structure. The fort is also famous for it's legends about Veronika of Desinić. After travelling through time and historic sites, the tour ends at the famous restaurant Villa "Ventek-Zelenjak", opened way back in 1936. Here, you will enjoy the best of Zagorje specialties and enjoy this peaceful location near the Sutla River. For lunch you will enjoy their specialty "Zelenjak platter", or vegetarian dishes made of fresh and local ingredients.

We had the same guide as our walking tour Diana, she was again quite friendly and helpful. The company that had booked this tour was quite open that somehow someone had forgotten to write down that they had confirmed this in their system so they were scrambling to make it happen. I was impressed with the fact that they made the tour happen for us, as we've had tours in other countries cancelled due to a lack of numbers at relatively the last moment. We thought it spoke well of the touring company that they honoured their commitment. The two castles Trakoscan and Dvor Veliki Tabor castle are both well worth visiting. Trakoscan has been historically better preserved and has much of its original furnishings within the castle. Amazing views of the local countryside as well. Tabor is an older castle and its also interesting, they are in the process now of fleshing it out as museum so I suspect in a year or two after we visit it will even be better to visit than it is now. Both castles give you a great idea of what life was like in the medieval period. We stopped for lunch at a restaurant in a spa town on the way back to Zagreb. The owner of the restaurant was also a butcher so the food was amazing. The restaurant looked to be some sort of renovated manor. We started the day at 9:30 and I think we were back to Zagreb around 4 so it was a pretty manageable day and both my wife and I really enjoyed it. We recommend it to anyone interested in learning more about history.
